The march starts from Kanyakumari



The Dalit March begins at Kanyakumari, the land covered by three seas. The grand Thiruvalluvar statue adorns the coastal side of Kanyakumari.

Today morning the candidates, who are going to walk from Kanyakumari to Chennai, arrived for Long March at Kanyakumari. Since they are from different parts of Tamil Nadu they are introduced to each other. Fr. Arulandandam, the SC/ST Commission secretary for Kottar diocese, welcomed them to Kanyakumari. Fr. Devasagayaraj, Tamil Nadu State secretary for SC/ST commission, coordinated the program.

After the press meet at Kanyakumari. the local evening papers published the news about the Dalit Christians Long March from Kanyakumari to Chennai via Palayamkottai, Sankarankovil, Sundaranachapuram, Madurai, Dindigul, Manaparai, Trichy, Perambalur, Vilupuram, Vikravandi, Chengalpet and Chennai.

The march will begin after the program which begins at 10 a.m.
The Speakers are

1). Ms. Helen Davidson, Member of Parliament
2). Mr.Bellarmin, the former Member of Parliament
3). Fr. Packianathan, the former secretary of TNBC SC/ST commission



Fr. Devasagaya Raj the state secretary for TNBC SC/ST commission will give an introductory talk
Then the march will start the Long March towards Chennai. Around 200 people are expected to join the march in the begining. Different people will join the group on the way.

Signature campaign on the cloth

There will be a signature campaign on the way demanding the Government to include the Dalit Christians in the SC list.
